Workshop: All About Etching

Presented as part of Melbourne Design Week and the Melbourne Art Book Fair 2024!

Join us for an afternoon of practical printmaking as we explore the various methods of etching. The day will include demonstrations, examples, conversation on printmaking in contemporary art and design, and ample time for participants to create their own original etchings using techniques including:

  • Manually working into the plate
  • Acid etching using various grounds
  • Collage
  • Mono prints
  • Having a cup of tea and coffee

Participants are guaranteed to leave with a handful of original prints of their own. Hosted in a cluster of Warrandyte studios, attendees will also have the opportunity to explore artist’s working studio spaces spanning sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and more. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and ages and your ticket includes all materials needed for the day: high quality printmaking paper, inks, use of the studio and press, and unlimited access to the tea, coffee and snacks bench.

There are two dates to choose from. Each day runs from 12pm-5pm. The Huge Mumma Press is located in Warrandyte – all details for the day including address will be emailed to ticket holders in the week leading up to the workshop.
